At Surfs UP NY our aim is to teach you everything you need to know to start surfing and make sure you have a blast out in the water! Your Instructors are World-Class Surfers with 15+ Years of Surfing & Teaching experience. All instructors are Certified Lifeguards.

HEAD INSTRUCTOR

Peter Shaw

Peter Shaw is a local NYC Surfer who's been surfing, traveling, and competing since a young age. He’s been teaching for over 15 years. He has surfed famous big wave spots like Nazaré (Portugal), Pipeline (Oahu, Hawaii), Teahupo’o (Tahiti), Uluwatu (Indonesia), Jaws (Maui, Hawaii) and loves surfing big & small waves at home in New York. He teaches Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced lessons!

Scarlet Denis

Local surfer girl and world traveler! She teaches beginner lessons & kids lessons. She has experience surfing all over the East Coast & West Coast especially in Huntington Beach, California.

Checa

Local Queens surfer girl and world traveler! She teaches beginner lessons & kids lessons. She’s surfed some amazing waves in the Philippines, Sri Lanka & Puerto Escondido, Mexico.

Sean

Sean is a local surfer from Long Island, NY. He’s also surfed in Hawaii, Portugal & Morocco! He teaches Beginner & Intermediate lessons.
